Assembly and safety check

  1. Remove packaging Remove packaging and accessories from inside and outside the cooker. Check that no packaging remains inside the inner pot or pot base.
  2. Choose a location Place the cooker on a sturdy, level, noncombustible surface, away from flammable materials and external heat sources.
  3. Check the parts Check that the inner pot, lid, condensation collector, power cord, and steam rack with handles are present and that all pressure components are on the lid.
  4. Wash the inner pot before first use Wash the inner pot with hot water and dish soap, then rinse with clean water.
  5. Dry the inner pot exterior Dry the inner pot exterior and bottom with a soft cloth, leaving no water, grease, or food residue.
  6. Clean the heating plate Remove packing debris from the heating plate and pot base interior. Check they are clean and dry before inserting the inner pot.
  7. Replace the clean inner pot Once the inner pot exterior is dry, hold directly over the outer pot and lower straight in until seated on the heating plate.
  8. Check lid opening and closing Check the lid for damage or excessive wear. Align the open marks, lower, then turn clockwise to Lock.
  9. Remove the lid counterclockwise With power disconnected and no pressure, turn the handle counterclockwise to the open mark, lift vertically, and set aside.
  10. Remove the steam release handle Grip the steam release handle, lift off the pipe, and set aside.
  11. Wash the steam release handle Wash the steam release handle and check that no food blocks the pipe opening before reinstalling.
  12. Press back onto the steam release pipe Align the steam release handle with the pipe and press firmly down. It should turn loosely but must not fall off when the lid is turned over.
  13. Turn the lid over and check security Turn the lid inside up. The steam release handle must stay on the pipe without falling off.
  14. Push the anti-block shield toward the lid edge to lift it Hold the lid steady. Push the side of the anti-block shield toward the lid edge and upward with your thumb. Remove once clear of the clips.
  15. Wash the anti-block shield Rinse the anti-block shield. Remove debris from its small holes and the steam release pipe, checking that the air path is clear.
  16. Align and clip the shield back on Face the anti-block shield opening toward the lid, align with the clips, and press vertically until secure.

  18. Check the sealing ring steel frame After removing the ring, check that the steel frame is secure, centered, and at an even height all around the lid.
  19. Wash and inspect the sealing ring Wash the sealing ring and check both sides. Replace with a suitable new ring first if cracked, deformed, or stretched.
  20. Align the ring with the steel frame and install Align the sealing ring with the steel frame and press down behind it, seating the entire ring against the lid interior.
  21. Press the sealing ring flat section by section Press the sealing ring firmly into place all around, section by section. Check for folds, twisting, or lifted sections.
  22. Turn upright and check the sealing ring Lift and turn the lid right side up by its handle. The sealing ring should stay snug against the steel frame without falling out. Set the lid securely.
  23. Press and hold the flat top before turning the lid Press and hold the float valve flat top with one finger, then turn the lid inside up. Keep supporting the valve before cap removal to prevent it from falling.
  24. Remove the silicone cap Keep a finger supporting the valve's flat top. Pinch the inner silicone cap with the other hand, pull it up, and set aside.
  25. Support the float valve while turning right side up Keep one finger pressed on the flat top as you turn the lid right side up, preventing the valve from falling out without its silicone cap.
  26. Remove the float valve from the lid top Grip the float valve from the lid top and pull straight up. Wash the valve, silicone cap, and valve hole. Keep both parts safe.
  27. Insert narrow end down Insert the narrow end of the float valve into the hole from the lid top. Keep the flat top on the outside and hold it down with a finger.
  28. Press and hold the float valve while turning over Keep pressing the flat top as you turn the inside up, exposing the narrow end for the silicone cap.
  29. Press the float valve silicone cap firmly in place Face the silicone cap opening toward the float valve narrow end. Align and press firmly down until it grips the valve stem.
  30. Turn the lid upright and check Once the cap is secure, turn the lid right side up and set securely. The float valve should sit down inside the lid hole.
  31. Align with the grooves in the condensation collector. Bring the condensation collector to the back of the cooker base and align its two grooves with the rear bosses.
  32. Slide in the condensation collector. Slide the condensation collector toward the cooker base along the grooves until both grooves engage the bosses. Keep the opening facing up and seat the collector securely.

First water test

  1. Remove the inner pot With the lid removed, lift the inner pot vertically above the rim, then move onto the counter and set securely.
  2. Add three cups of clean water Measure 25.4 fl oz (750 mL) of clean water—three 250 mL cups—and pour it into the inner pot on the counter. Do not use the steam rack for the water test.
  3. Put back in the outer pot Confirm the inner pot exterior and bottom are dry. Hold directly above the outer pot and lower fully in.
  4. Plug the pot base power cord in securely Align the power cord plug with the rear pot base socket and push fully toward the base. Check that it is secure.
  5. Connect the specified power supply Plug the other end into a grounded 120 V, 60 Hz outlet. The display should show OFF.
  6. Align with the open mark Lift the lid by its handle and hold directly above the pot rim, aligning its mark with the open mark.
  7. Lower and lock clockwise Once the lid rim seats in the pot rim, turn clockwise to the lock mark. A chime sounds if powered.
  8. Turn to Sealing Turn the steam release handle from Venting to Sealing and confirm it is in the sealing position.
  9. Press Pressure Cook Press Pressure Cook to select pressure cooking. The screen shows the cooking time.
  10. Set to five minutes Press Minus to reduce the time minute by minute until 00:05 appears. Use the screen reading as the reference.
  11. Turn off automatic Keep Warm Press Keep Warm to turn automatic warming off. Check that the indicator above the button goes out.
  12. Wait for preheating to start About ten seconds after the last button press, On appears and preheating and pressurization begin.
  13. Watch the float valve rise The float valve rises flush with the lid to indicate pressure. The cooker then continues to reach the target pressure.
  14. Countdown ends At target pressure, the five-minute countdown starts. End appears when finished. The full water test takes about twenty minutes.
  15. Turn to Venting Turn the steam release handle from Sealing to Venting to release remaining pressure. Keep your body clear of the vent.
  16. Wait until the float valve drops fully Wait until steam is exhausted and the float valve drops completely into the hole. Open only after confirming no pressure remains.
  17. Unlock the lid counterclockwise Confirm the float valve is down, then turn the lid handle counterclockwise to the pot rim open mark.
  18. Lift and move the lid aside Lift the handle vertically above the pot rim, move aside, and set securely with the opening away from your body.

  22. Dry the inner pot thoroughly Once the inner pot is cool enough to touch safely, dry the inside, outside, and bottom thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Three ways to release pressure

  1. Keep at Sealing for natural release After cooking, leave at Sealing without moving the handle. Let the cooker cool and depressurize naturally. Time varies with food type and quantity.
  2. Wait for the float valve to drop naturally Natural release is complete only when the float valve drops fully below the lid surface.
  3. Check before quick release After the other pot finishes, check the recipe to confirm quick release is suitable. A raised float valve means pressure remains inside.
  4. Turn quickly to Venting Turn the steam release handle from Sealing to Venting to release remaining pressure. Keep your body clear of the vent.
  5. If splattering occurs, return to Sealing first If venting splatters continuously, return to Sealing immediately and wait a few minutes before retrying.
  6. If it still sprays on retry, use natural release After a few minutes, turn to Venting again. If splattering continues, return to Sealing and use natural release until the float valve drops.
  7. Wait until the float valve drops fully Wait until steam is exhausted and the float valve drops completely into the hole. Open only after confirming no pressure remains.
  8. Ten-minute natural release Start with another pot of cooked food: leave the handle at Sealing, allow ten minutes of natural release, then release the remaining pressure.
  9. Release remaining pressure after ten minutes Turn the steam release handle from Sealing to Venting to release remaining pressure. Keep your body clear of the vent.
  10. If residual pressure causes splattering, return to Sealing first If venting splatters continuously, return to Sealing immediately and wait a few minutes before retrying.
  11. If it still sprays on retry, use natural release After a few minutes, turn to Venting again. If splattering continues, return to Sealing and use natural release until the float valve drops.
  12. Wait until the float valve drops fully Wait until steam is exhausted and the float valve drops completely into the hole. Open only after confirming no pressure remains.
  13. Unlock the lid counterclockwise Confirm the float valve is down, then turn the lid handle counterclockwise to the pot rim open mark.
  14. Lift and move the lid aside Lift the handle vertically above the pot rim, move aside, and set securely with the opening away from your body.
