Door preparation and latch

  1. Check the four screw types 4 short screws, 2 long reinforcement plate screws, 2 mounting plate screws, and 2 interior screws. Also check the lock body, covers, holder, and key.
  2. Loosen the old lock screws Keep the door open. Hold the old exterior lock and remove the two interior screws counterclockwise.
  3. Remove the old interior lock Pull the old interior knob straight away from the door and set aside.
  4. Remove the old exterior lock Pull the old cylinder straight out along the lock hole axis from outside the door and set aside.
  5. Remove the old latch screws Remove both upper and lower door edge faceplate screws counterclockwise.
  6. Pull out the old latch Grip the door edge faceplate and pull the entire old latch outward through the edge hole.
  7. Remove the old strike screws This procedure replaces the strike plate. First remove the two old frame plate screws counterclockwise.
  8. Remove the old strike plate Remove the old strike plate outward from the door frame recess, clearing space for the new plate.
  9. Compare the latch length Hold the latch near the door face and check whether the drive slot is centered in the face hole. If centered, keep the original length.
  10. Lengthen if not centered If extension is needed, take it outside the door first and turn the faceplate to the 2¾-inch position. Continue only when the drive slot is centered.
  11. Line up with the door edge hole With TOP up and the latch retracted, align with the hole from the open door edge side.
  12. Insert the latch Push straight through the door edge hole until the faceplate sits flush. Check that the drive slot remains centered in the face hole.
  13. Insert the latch screws Insert two short screws through the upper and lower panel holes and hand-tighten.
  14. Tighten the latch screws Tighten each clockwise with a Phillips screwdriver until the panel sits flat and secure.
  15. Align with the reinforcement plate Move the reinforcement plate outside the door frame recess first, with its arrow toward the door stop and opening aligned with the latch.
  16. Hold the reinforcement plate flat Push the reinforcement plate into the door frame, flat against the surface, aligning the long screw holes with the frame holes.
  17. Insert the reinforcement plate screws Confirm the frame allows long screws, then insert both long wood screws through the matching reinforcement plate holes.
  18. Tighten the reinforcement plate screws Only if the door frame allows, tighten the two long wood screws clockwise until the plate sits flat.
  19. Install the new strike plate Align the new strike plate outside the reinforcement plate. Match the square openings, then push until flat.
  20. Insert the strike screws Insert two more short screws of the same type through the strike plate upper and lower holes. Hand-tighten.
  21. Tighten the strike screws Tighten both short screws clockwise one by one until the strike plate sits flat and secure.

Install the latch

  1. Position the exterior touchscreen Lift the touchscreen from outside the door, with the raised connector tab up and aligned with the latch slot. Feed the ribbon cable through below the latch first.
  2. Align with the slot and push the touchscreen flat Check the raised connector tab matches the latch slot, then push along the door hole axis until the touchscreen sits flat outside.
  3. Feed the cable through and align the mounting plate Inside the door, hold the mounting plate TOP up. Feed the plug through the lower opening first, then align with the connector tab and both screw posts.

  5. Insert the mounting plate screws Insert the two mounting plate screws through the left and right interior holes into the exterior screw posts. Do not fully tighten yet.
  6. Check that the touchscreen is straight Before fully tightening, check from outside that the touchscreen edges are vertical. Straighten and hold flat, then secure the mounting plate.
  7. Tighten the mounting plate screws With the touchscreen straight, tighten both screws one by one with a manual Phillips screwdriver until the mounting plate sits flat without wobbling.

  9. Plug the ribbon cable in securely Align the raised plug tab with the socket notch and push fully along the socket direction. Grip only the plug; do not pull the ribbon cable.
  10. Tuck the cable above the pivot Tuck the cable and connected plug into the space above the pivot as you bring the interior assembly toward the mounting plate. Do not pinch wires.
  11. Turn the knob vertical If the connector tab does not match the inner slot, turn the knob vertical, then check alignment again.
  12. Press on the interior assembly Align the raised connector tab with the rear shaft slot. Push the assembly along the axis toward the mounting plate until flat all around, with no exposed ribbon cable.
  13. Insert the interior screws Insert two assembly screws through the exposed interior mounting holes and hand-tighten.
  14. Tighten the interior screws Tighten both assembly screws clockwise one by one until the assembly sits firmly against the mounting plate without wobbling.
  15. Pull the battery holder up and out Grip the battery holder top and pull vertically up along the guides until completely clear of the compartment.
  16. Turn the battery holder slots outward Above the compartment opening, turn the battery holder so the four battery slots and polarity marks face you.
